You would isolate y, so to do this, you would divide everything by 8

[tex]Slope: \frac{2}{8} = \frac{1}{4}[/tex]

Using the format  y = mx + c, where m = slope.

8y = 2x + 4

y = 2x/8 + 4/8

y = x/4 + 1/2

y = (1/4)x + 1/2         comparing to y = mx + c

Slope, m = (1/4) = 0.25
