Explanation: the problem say the DIFFERENCE so that indicates that we are going to be using subtraction. We don’t know Matt’s age and the problem tells us to use the variable m to represent his age. So far in our equation we have “m-”. The equation says the difference of Matt’s age and 7. So next we put 7 into the equation; “m-7”. The problem tells us that m-7 is equal to 57. So the final equation would be m-7=57.
