What did Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mean when he said "We Cannot Turn Back"?

im guessing. when he said "we cannot look back" he was really saying that we cant change our past only the future. so focus on looking ahead into the future instead of looking at your past doing nothing.

What i think is that Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. mean when he said we cannot turn back we can not turn back what we did before
